Why you should consider a home photography session.
When folks think of photography sessions they most likely will always think of an outdoor session in a park or nature conservatory with some beautiful golden light. Now, don’t get me wrong I absolutely love outdoor sessions, but I wanted to also talk about how special a home session can be. Below are a few reasons why you should consider having your photos done in the comfort of your own home.
You’re in the comfort of your own home.
Being in your home allows you to not have to worry about getting everyone dressed, packed up, in the car and to your off-site outdoor photo destination by a certain time. When you have little ones, getting to places can be stressful and usually results in a flustered family by the time you get there. Having the photographer come to the home takes the stress off of having to gather up everyone by a certain time.
2. You’re able to capture the place you live at that time in your life.
Throughout life, especially when you are starting your family, you may not know what the future has in store for where your family will be physically. You may be in your home for the rest of your life or you may have many different homes. Having a home session allows you to capture that moment in time and you will be able to look back and say “wow, look, that was the house we lived at on 123 main street.” It allows you to reminisce and bring memories back to that special place you lived when you started your family.
3. You are able to capture real life.
The beauty of home sessions is that you are able to capture real life moments. Usually the kiddos, parents and pets (we will get to that one in a moment) are much more comfortable and allow the real moments to happen organically that may not otherwise at a park on a warm sunny day, making it a much more authentic experience.
4. Pets are family members too!
This may be my favorite part about a home session. If you know me, or have done a home session with me, you will know I LOVE having the pets be a part of the session somehow. I am determined. They are your first babies before having the non-furry kind, and they should be able to be a part of this special day. Having the session at home allows them to be a part of the photos in a non-forced way and you don’t have to worry about bringing them to a park along with the little ones in tow.
5. Did I mention you’re in the comfort of your own home?
I can’t stress this enough. Another big piece of this is if you have a little one, they may need to nurse, have a diaper change or outfit change, and you are able to do that easily and quickly at home stress-free. I understand patience is key in these environments, especially with newborns and being at home allows you to have access to all of the things that will give your new little one comfort and more privacy than a park.
